JMMLA Founding Proclamation
Amplifying Jewish civic leadership across America
The Jewish Mayors and Municipal Leaders Association (JMMLA) is a nonpartisan initiative of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM). It brings together Jewish mayors and municipal leaders who are committed to strengthening local governance, combating hate and extremism, and advancing the values of dignity, justice, and democratic life in communities across the United States.
Jewish mayors occupy a unique position in American public life. They are civic leaders first, and they bring a distinctive set of values, experiences, and perspectives shaped by Jewish history, tradition, and identity. The JMMLA exists to amplify that voice and build the collective power of Jewish municipal officials as a force for good.
What we stand for
The JMMLA is built on the belief that Jewish municipal leaders, working together, can be a powerful force for justice, safety, and communal strength across America.
Combating Antisemitism
Providing municipal leaders with the tools, training, and frameworks, including the IHRA definition, to identify and address antisemitism within their communities and institutions.
Strengthening Governance
Supporting Jewish civic leaders in their full responsibilities as mayors and officials, bringing Jewish values of justice and communal responsibility to local government.
Building Coalition
Forging partnerships across faith, racial, and civic lines, including with Black civic leaders, to advance the shared values of dignity, pluralism, and democratic life.
